A year ago I’d have told you I’d still be living in DC living a politico’s dream, but the reality is, God has been laying the foundation of a very different path. This last year, while one of the most unexpected and unplanned, has led to incredible healing, miraculous peace, as well as newfound direction. Ultimately, trust and flexibility have become the name of the game on this journey of letting go and letting God.
At the beginning of this year I was introduced to Youth With a Mission (YWAM) through Kokua Crew in Hawaii. I was able to see their work first hand, and felt that God would lead me to be further involved with this mission in the future… granted I thought it would be after I moved to Korea, once I finished grad school, or a variety of other ideas I had for my future, but God had another plan, so here we are. And here I am getting ready to move (I count it as moving if it is more than 3 months) to Harpenden, England for the next six months… starting tomorrow.
During my time in England I will be attending their Business as Missions Discipleship Training School, a program designed to lead young people into a more intimate relationship with Christ as we explore God’s heart for business. We will dig deeper into God’s design for business, why business matters, how God’s character is exemplified through this work, and what God communicates through business as a whole.
After the first three months in England performing our lecture phase, we will begin the second half of school - outreach. Our teams will prayerfully consider the locations we will travel to and we will spend our final three months using our individual skills as a team to be the hands and feet of Christ in places untouched by the Gospel.
I’m so excited to be taking a step into this calling God placed on my heart years ago, and know that He has incredible work in store as my cohort and I explore varying aspects of God’s character and the passions He instills in each and every one of us. I cannot wait to be involved in what God is doing globally through this organization and what He has in store for these next six months.
I’m excited, filled with anticipation, scared to be out of country for half a year, but ultimately filled with joy to be in a season of life to have the flexibility to explore passions God has placed on my heart. If you think of me, it would mean the world if you would keep me and those I am studying with in your prayers.
Top prayer requests right now are:
Negative COVID tests! (Before flight & once in the UK)
Easy through customs (Airports have not been my friend since spending two months in Turkey)
Safety (I won’t say a hedge, literally the least protective force. Let's go with a cement wall or something of that nature)
That God completely opens our hearts and turns them into sponges for whatever He wants to teach during this time.
Community - that those of us going through school together will build a solid community that demonstrates a servant’s heart toward one another.
I am so grateful for the doors God has closed and the ones He graciously continues to open. I don’t fully know what this next chapter will hold, but I know it is in the hands of the Father and He can and will do BIG things.
I cannot thank you enough for your support and prayers. My hope is to be more consistent with blog postings, so please stay in touch in this way or directly.
With Love,
Hannah
